Fees
Hawkins Clinic determines its own fee structure because of the inability of Medicare fees to keep pace with inflation.
Patients are encouraged to pay for all consults on the day. Our TYRO Eftpos system allows patients to receive Medicare rebates back into their account within 11 seconds when they pay in full with their debit card. Alternatively patients can use their credit card and receive their Medicare rebate the next day into their bank account. Please note the only condition for the next day rebate is that patients need to have registered their account with Medicare for the rebates to be put back into their account.
The doctor is responsible at all times to determine the fee they feel is appropriate for the individual patient. Patients are encouraged to discuss with their doctor any difficulty they may have in meeting the consultation fee.
Below are our general fees for other types of consultations we offer-
Childhood Immunisations
Appointments for childhood immunisations are bulk billed where immunisation is the only reason for the appointment.
Paediatric Walk in Clinic (under 5 years with recent onset illness)
All consults are bulk billed for the walk in paediatric clinic at 11.00 am weekdays.
Non Attendance
If you are unable to attend your appointment and haven't phoned the clinic to cancel in advance you may be charged a non-attendance fee. Patients with mobile phones are encouraged to register for SMS reminders which are generated from within our appointment software.
Private Hospital Patients
Patients who have elected on admission to be treated privately can request their normal doctor to provide care when they are available. The clinic duty doctor will continue this care during times when their normal doctor is unavailable. Private inpatients are charged Hawkins Medical Clinic fees determined by the doctor. Charges for inpatient attendance must compare with a dated written note of attendance in the patient's hospital record.
Skin Check Clinics (Our clinic fee policy for skin check clinics applies to pensioners and non-pensioners).
Skin checks: Medicare rebate and gap fee of $50.
Procedures: Minor procedures including skin lesion biopsies and curettage of lesions- Medicare rebate and gap fee of $50.
Procedures requiring excision of lesions and suturing, wound dressing, review for removal of sutures and ongoing wound review: Medicare rebate and gap fee of $100.
*The fee schedule may be subject to change at the discretion of the treating doctor*
