General Medical Practice
Patients are encouraged when ringing to identify if their need is urgent so that our staff can assist in determining the level of urgency.
The clinic provides an emergency service each day for our patients with an urgent medical need.
Patients are encouraged to identify any specific needs when making an appointment. This will assist staff to find the most suitable appointment time for them such as:
- Long appointments
- Medicals (pre-employment, insurance or Centrelink)
- Nurse procedures (immunisation, wound dressing or removal of sutures, cervical screening test)
Medicals for vehicle licences (heavy vehicles, passenger, taxi, commercial) and army/navy/air force medicals are best performed by the patient’s regular doctor.
Appointments for excisions and procedures are only made following a standard appointment where the doctor can discuss the recommended procedure including risks and benefits.
Home visiting is an important part of a community medical service and is available for regular patients whose medical condition prevents them from attending the clinic. If you require a home visit please ring as early as possible in the morning to enable the doctor to plan his or her day. Higher fees apply for home visits.
To improve on the day access for our patients we now offer same day duty appointments. Our telephone lines open from 8am, and appointments on the day with one of our duty doctors are available from 9am. In times of high demand we recommend that patients call the clinic early to avoid disappointment. We still offer standard appointments for patients to book in to see their regular GP.
We encourage all of our patients to register for SMS reminders to be sent to their mobile reminding them of their next appointment.
